It really came down to the fact that the desk has a really wide keyboard tray and it's metal and glass.So I got the desk and it was well packed, no damage. I put it together by myself without incident. All in all I have to say that I am very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the materials. The desk is all metal with the exception of the keyboard tray and insert. The keyboard tray is particle board with what seems to be a really heavy vinyl cover and the insert is plastic. Oh yea, the desk top is glass. The metal has a nice powder coat matte black finish, pretty standard. Everything fit together well. The desk is stable and sturdy and the keyboard shelf is pretty sturdy and slides well. I can't imagine what I'll use that tray insert for, but it's there.
